So I'll switch back to first person. While I have over 15 years experience as a digital designer, the last 6 years I have solely focused on product design at large organizations. This shift was motivated by my desire to solve complex problems for real people and use intuitive UI and engaging user experiences to create products that matter. I am a UI designer first and foremost. I love designing easy to use interfaces that bring joy and working with engineers to execute those designs. But I also feel I do my best work listening and solving problems for people. Whether that be users, stake holders or my team. I enjoy problem solving, prototyping and wireframing more than a standard visual designer, but I am also more passionate about creating pixel perfect interfaces and design systems than most UX designers. I sit right at the intersection called product design.
My skills in problem solving, communication, interaction and interface design are especially reflected in my work at the Bureau of Meteorology over the last year and a half. I have been the lead designer on the digital transformation of the new public weather service for millions of Australians. In addition to delivering this project, I have started prototyping a new interface to help emergency services better understand weather conditions during extreme events. Our team has also created a design system for the Bureau to better develop digital products in the future.
I’ve decided I want to continue to advance my design career by pursuing companies committed to design with meaningful global impact.
